A kitchen has to work harder than any other room. The decision between a modular system and a carpenter-made kitchen is less about fashion and more about how the carcass, hardware and finishes will hold up in daily use.

Where modular kitchens excel

Factory-made carcasses arrive with consistent dimensions, edge banding and tested hardware. Soft-close drawers, tandem boxes and accessories for spices, bottles and waste are easier to specify and replace. Installation on site is faster when walls and services are already in the right place.

Where a carpenter still matters

Odd wall angles, extra-tall shutters, integrated breakfast counters and unusual appliance sizes often need skilled carpentry. A carpenter can also blend the kitchen into adjacent living joinery so the home feels designed as one piece rather than a catalogue unit in a room.

The hybrid we often recommend

Many of our projects use modular internals for drawers and accessories, with custom carcasses or shutters where the architecture demands it. The BOQ then lists hardware brands, board thickness and laminate or veneer grades so there is no guesswork on site.
